My latest post is up over at Mr. X Stitch– this one defining Embroidery Digitizing and giving a peek into my own concepts of what it takes to digitize successfully and to do the best digitizing you can do. In this post, I break digitizing up into the ‘science’, meaning all of the measurements, technical knowledge, and testing that goes into getting embroidery to run well, and the ‘art’, meaning the eye for detail, the interpretation of images into the medium of thread, and the conscious use of all the wonderful qualities that medium has to offer.
It’s a pretty technical post, and a bit of a long read, but if you want to know more about embroidery digitizing, or at least the way I view embroidery digitizing, I’m reasonably sure it will enlighten. I am certainly thinking about adding a sort of machine embroidery glossary to my posts, and I may well have some of that explanatory material here at erichcampbell.com in the future- this is my first stab at writing for a more varied, non-industry audience and I’d like to make the information more accessible.
I can’t wait to see what comes of this monthly adventure with Mr. X, and I hope you’ll come along for the ride!
